sKYPOTION ORIGINS

I’m Jason, but most people call me Jace.

Design has been in my veins for as long as I can remember. What began as a childhood obsession with drawing, video games, and digital art grew into a lifelong craft. By the age of 12, I was teaching myself Photoshop, exploring every way shape, color, and type could tell a story. Design wasn’t just a skill - it was a language, one I carried through college, university, and into the world.

At first, it was simple: helping friends and family with logos, creating album artwork and merchandise for local bands. Each project was a lesson, a chance to see how design could shape identity - not just how things looked, but how they were remembered.

In my thirties, while teaching English and Art in Hong Kong, I launched my first studio. Then the world paused. COVID forced us home, slowed everything, and gave me something rare: time. Time to focus, to study brand identity, typography, and strategy, to turn curiosity into intention, and intention into clarity.

That focus transformed everything. The studio grew, and in 2021 it brought us to New Zealand. Here, my partner Jane joined me, and together we reimagined what the business could be. SkyPotion Brand Design Studio was born - a reflection of growth, vision, and a commitment to creating brands that matter.

Today, we live in New Zealand with our son, Kamaru. SkyPotion is family-run, built on experience, curiosity, and the belief that a strong brand doesn’t just exist - it commands attention, shapes perception, and endures.

We’re here to help brands find that clarity (just like we did) - and to tell stories worth remembering.

We look forward to hearing your story and assisting in your business journey in 2026.
